As Japanese, I want UTF-8. File size difference in real life Japanese
text is insignificant issue than the conflicts we face when we have to
deal with mixed data some in Latin-1 and some in EUC-JP.
Touchy issue is in Han-unification which we can ignore like other OSs
(Windows, Mac, ...).

Actually, this "encoding negotiation" is headache which we fight between
Latin-1 vs. EUC-JP. Use of UTF-8 gives all of us peace of mind.
