Are we still talking about the lenny release notes built on etch? :~)
Here the sizes are e.g.:
5850779 ja/release-notes.armel.pdf (if build on etch)
653347 ja/release-notes.armel.pdf (if build on lenny)
The size difference comes probably from different cairo
versions: 1.2.4-4.1+etch1 vs. 1.6.4-7, which has optimised PDF
output.
184398 ja/release-notes.armel.txt (if build on lenny)
183874 ja/release-notes.armel.txt (if build on etch)
This small size difference seems to be caused only by white
space, maybe because of different w3m versions (0.5.1-5.1 vs.
0.5.2-2+b1).
All four files look fine to me, i.e. they seem to feature
Japanese characters, as far as I can tell.
locales-all is *not* installed, neither in etch nor lenny, but I
have en_GB.UTF-8 as LANG. Without an UTF-8 locale txt output
will be broken!
Cheers.
