doc-base entries in debian menu?

Hi doc-base related debian ppl,

I wanted to see the feature I mention in these two mails implemented in
doc-base in the etch release:
http://lists.debian.org/debian-desktop/2005/06/msg00024.html
http://lists.debian.org/debian-desktop/2005/06/msg00026.html

I decided that I should volunteer my time to get this complete (based on
the recent etch todo/wishlist fla^Wthreads on d-d).

So I was looking at the source of the install-docs script, and near the
end I see the comment "a much more robust system is being planned as the
next generation of doc-base". I was wondering if a pre-release of this
next-gen doc-base system is available in svn/elsewhere? Or a newer
version of doc-base than is in sid/experimental? i.e. what should I base
my work on?
