What documentation do I (newbie) need to install?

Pretend I'm a Freshman CS major at a University savvy enough to use Gcc
and Debian GNU/Linux (such as Portland State University, Portland,
Oregon, USA), and I've proudly managed to install Debian in my own
computer...  I want to install the development suite, and also need the
documentation, but I don't know:

 Does gcc-*-doc also document g++ ?

  Does it document the STL also?

 How do I debug a program where I also want to track into the std
libraries?
