Re: Seeking new members for the DFSG team (Re: Bits from the DPL)

Hi Jörg,

That response is astonishing to me. The suggestion to split the team
originated inside the former ftpmaster team[1] and was raised on
multiple occasions. Ftpmasters were informed about the planned
delegation split several weeks in advance. It was also mentioned in my
bits on debian-devel-announce[2], with a link to the delegation texts in
Git. I therefore expected comments from members of the FTPMaster team as
well as from the broader Debian community - and indeed received several
from people outside the FTPMaster team.

My last mail on the topic, sent to the ftpmasters' internal list, was:

  Date: Tue, 21 Oct 2025 18:02:53 +0200
  Message-ID: <aPeurfI7uVvPgd5a@an3as.eu>

Since I haven't heard any objections or alternative proposals regarding
the planned team split, I intend to proceed and send the updated
  delegations this weekend.

Of course, if anyone has concerns or suggestions-especially about the
timing or wording-please let me know before then. I'd be happy to adjust
  if needed.

Unfortunately, no objections or alternative proposals were received, so
I proceeded with what seemed the most constructive path forward:
creating clearer scopes of responsibility to make it easier for new
contributors to join and for existing work to be shared more evenly.

I intend to continue supporting both teams, in particular by helping the
DFSG & Licensing team build up the capacity and structure it needs.
That's why I asked for volunteers and why I trust that new contributors
can help improve the situation for everyone involved.

The best way to shape how NEW processing evolves is by taking part in it
directly - volunteers are warmly invited to join the renewed DFSG &
Licensing team.

Kind regards
    Andreas.
