Maybe I didn't make myself clear enough: if we are talking about policy, which I assume we are, non-default DEB_BUILD_OTIONS are not so relevant to the conversation because what we need to decide on is sensible defaults. Ways to deviate from those defaults are nice to have, but not the main issue.
