My personal take on this it that we should recommend (or at least
suggest) bug submitters to use an address or alias that can be published
and filter spam effectively (and by the way recommend to avoid some
providers that are known to silently drop mail, such as gmail), and that
they allow this address to be public (explicit consent aka opt-in). But
we should also allow them to not agree (or withdraw their consent at any
time) and then keep their e-mail address private by replacing it with a
unique random alias (e.g. user-fr4ki8@bugs.debian.org) in all generated
output, in the spirit of a similar gitlab/github feature.
