The question is: Is that a target for a future Debian installation and/or
a target for a recent Debian release?
It sounds more like cases which require a certification of some kind, and are
more likely to stay on very old releases for a long a time anyway (which
sometimes is problematic in different ways). It's likely the owner of such
long running device must now think about the plans for Y2038 anyway.
