Package: general
Severity: important
Dear Maintainer,
I have lost the ability to share a screen through VGA.
The screen is still recognised in Settings>Dispaly but it remains black.
Withing Settings>Display I have options to turn the screen off, set as primary or secondary display or just mirror but in either case it remains black.
I am using GNOME Shell 3.16.3., I have rebooted my computer multiple times and I have tested the behavior using different cables.
The HDMI port works fine but the VGA port does not.
If I unplug the screen the screen will be corrected removed from the display pattern and the extern screen itself will go ahead and show the "No VGA cable, the display will go to power save mode, etc. etc." message. If I plug the screen back again it will go straight to "Power saving mode" so I suspect it get a signal that it is under power saving.
On that matter the screen is currently detected as Dell Inc. 24", which is correct.
Thank you.

It would appear that after 5 years nobody is going to investigate
this further, as we also don't know if this is still a problem in
the current stable release or in unstable. Keeping the bug filed
against the "general" package open also won't change this, so I'm
going to close it for now.
Best,
Chris
