* What led up to the situation? Updated to the late June 2018 release of Rasbian from March 2018 release
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)? Reboot.
* What was the outcome of this action? Shutdown my Pi 3B+, and corrupted my USB Boot HDD
* What outcome did you expect instead? normal re-boot
