The current policy discourages providing Python 2 binary packages for new source packages anyway.Quoting Ghislain Vaillant <ghisvail@gmail.com>: s/python3-precis-i18n/python-precis-i18n Unless this source package is Python 3 specific, please consider renaming the source package to python-precis-i18n, or just precis-i18n. The "python3-" prefix is for binary packages built for the Python 3 interpreter. Unless the DPMT policy has changedsince.OK, will do. The minimal supported Python version is 3.3 btw. No 2.7.
There are other interpreters than Python 3 however, such as pypy and perhaps pypy3 in the future [1].
The "python-" prefix for source packages refers to Python the language. The "python-", "python3-", "pypy-" prefixes for binary packages correspond to the respective target interpreters.
