Bug#832659: ITP: sopt -- Sparse optimization and sparsity averaging

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Ole Streicher <olebole@debian.org>
X-Debbugs-Cc: debian-astro@lists.debian.org,debian-devel@lists.debian.org

* Package name    : sopt
  Version : tbd. (currently git only)
  Upstream Author : Rafael Carrillo, Jason McEwen, Yves Wiaux
* URL             : http://basp-group.github.io/sopt/
* License         : GPL
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : Sparse optimization and sparsity averaging

SOPT is an open-source code that provides functionality to perform
sparse optimisation using state-of-the-art convex optimisation
algorithms. Furthermore, SOPT implements the SARA algorithm, where the
average sparsity of images over a set of dictionaries is exploited.

SOPT is written in C primarily. SOPT is largely provided to support the
PURIFY package, a companion open-source code to perform radio
interferometric imaging, also written by the authors of SOPT. For
further background please see the following paper:

R. E. Carrillo, J. D. McEwen, D. Van De Ville, J.-P. Thiran, and
Y. Wiaux. Sparsity averaging for compressive imaging,
IEEE Sig. Proc. Lett., 20(6): 591-594, 2013

The package will be maintained by the Debian Astro Team.
I will setup a git repository at
http://anonscm.debian.org/git/debian-astro/packages/sopt.git

Best
