Bug#819012: ITP: libgpuarray -- GPU tensor computation library running on OpenCL

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Daniel Stender <stender@debian.org>

* Package name    : libgpuarray
  Version         : 0.0+git20160322.fc7a592
  Upstream Author : Arnaud Begeron <abergeron@gmail.com>
* URL             : https://github.com/Theano/libgpuarray
* License         : ISC
  Programming Lang: C/Python
  Description : GPU tensor computation library running on OpenCL

This is a library for computing arrays on the graphics adaptor (GPU) [1], which is
developed closely to Theano [2]. Theano could use this as alternative to Nvidia's CUDA
Toolkit. The main advantage is that this library could run on OpenCL, which makes
it possible to run GPU accelerated Theano completely on free software.

Although there is no official release (the docs say it's 0.2) so far it appears
to be actively developed (many recent commits), and for some time now. It ships also
with Cython based Python extensions, and I think it would be great to have it in Debian.

The binaries are going to be libgpuarray and libgpuarray-dev, and the Python
bindings are going to be python{,3}-pygpu.

Thanks,
Daniel Stender
