The vlan package is obsolete.  You could perhaps replace it with
something based on iproute.

I don’t think that the vlan package is obsolete. It provides you with stanzas for your /etc/network/interfaces to easily configure vlan interfaces.

You can do this with the ip command but you have to do everything manually.

The same goes for the ifenslave package.

So, yes, someone can file a bug.
