I would have happily accepted the offer immediately and would have joined
the team if upstream had not been very skeptical about maintaining XBMC
in Debian at all [1].
I made promises regarding the way of maintaining the package and I think
it would look bad if right when starting th maintenance I put it under
the umbrella of Multimedia Team and bring a team of additional maintainers
aboard.
I have just subscribed to the Multimedia mailing lists and I'll post
my introduction
to join the team. I just would like to join with XBMC later, after I
discussed it with
upstream in advance and they (and Multimedia Team, too) are happy about it.
