For the record about a year ago when I tried to use UUID for
external journal on ext4 it didn't work because (I think) it was not
implemented.
Probably it still doesn't work although I could miss something in recent
changelogs.

Although UUID is very useful for partitions I didn't mention UUID because I
knew it wouldn't work for ext4 external journal.
