Just in case you missed that, dpkg will refuse to replace an existing
directory with a symbolic link, and vice versa.
You might find convenient to copy-paste one of the work-arounds at
http://wiki.debian.org/MissingCopyrightFile. The last link seems to
break sometimes, retry if necessary.
