This ASN.1 compiler turns the formal ASN.1 specifications into the C
code. The compiler is shipped together with conformant BER/DER/XER
codecs. The X.509 and GSM TAP3 decoding examples are shipped as well.

A package asn1c is maintained by W. Martin Borgert <debacle@debian.org>.
After "O" call adopters were not found and the package was removed from
testing/unstable. Not sure if it is possible to adopt a removed package.
I can help in maintaing asn1c or try to maintain it myself.
