Hurm, yes, I s'spect you're right. This might end up being more work,
but since CFLAGS (etc) are being taken care of this way, currently,
perhaps this is a better way of doing it.

This would involve a bit more work, but I'm perfectly OK with patching /
NMUing packages that need such work done, of others agree this is
better.
