Re: Request for testing pre-release of Systemd to SysVinit converter

Hello Michael,

Yeah, Mentors and I had this discussion earlier. Each approach had their pros and cons resulting in too much disambiguation at that point. So, we decided to focus only on getting the converter right.

I realize that the script's place in the Debian packaging overflow is still vague, but through this discussion we'll be able to find out community's opinion on the same.

However, with the standalone tool the package maintainers will at least be able to generate SysV init scripts, following same format, with minimal effort.

Kind Regards,
Akhil Vij

Are there any plans/ideas how this tool is supposed to be integrated
into the Debian packaging workflow?
Do you plan to run this tool during package build time and ship the
generated files in the binary package or generate the files during
install time? If the former, integration into dh_installinit or a
separate debhelper program would be great.

I'm not sure, if this is something which is covered by your GSoC
project, but imho to be really useful, having this kind of integration
is needed.

Cheers,
Michael
