It was a very long discussion that did not end in a major consensus the
way I read it. Consensus was only between those favoring an event driven
system but the advantages or requirements for an event driven system
have not yet fully been disclosed in such a way that all questions
raised are answered.

According to my latest information only the DPL may speak on behalf of
the project which can by overridden by way of a GR. I therefore conclude
that YOU don't want to be able to chose among multiple init
implementatioins.
