DBUnit is an extension to phpunit, that "has been created to provide an easy way to place your database in a known state, execute your database-affecting code, and ensure that the expected data is found in the database.", quoting the PHPUnit manual.

Note that this upstream program is now managed in an independant PEAR package from the rest of PHPUnit, hence, a separate Debian package.

I'm open for collaborative maintenance on this one too, in the frame of the pkg-php team.
