Hello, the reason for the problem was that when upgrading from lenny to squeeze, some things have gone wrong with the runlevel links in /etc/rc?.d so that they were not called in a correct order. I deleted all runlevel links and recreated them by 'dpkg-reconfigure sysv-rc'; now rebooting works ok. Regards Christoph
