Bug#604474: general: Network-Manager-Applet 0.8.1 shows "disconnected",, but connection working

/etc/network/interfaces:
allow-hotplug eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

Ok, if this is the intended behaviour of Network Manager (0.8.1), but it is misleading. I had a look at the Network Manager (0.8) in Ubuntu 10.04 and it does show the connection listed in /etc/network/interfaces as "auto eth0". And if the connection is established the Network Manager symbol changes to "connected".

So did the Ubuntu-developers tweak the way that the Network Manager is working?
