Gotcha, that must be it. Very impressive result.

FWIW, about the people proposing to change from md5 to something else,
it should be pretty easy to achieve too: if all of us is using
dh_md5sums, it would be enough to change its implementation to store a
different kind of checksums (the name will become pretty bogus, though).

Russ, while we are at it, would you mind a bug report on the policy to
suggest (starting at SHOULD?) to store md5sums in packages?
