But having the string hardcoded to /bin/bash or to /bin/dash makes
absolutely no difference later when it comes to making it selectable.
You get exactly the same bugs then and you also get the bugs now for
changing the hardcoded string.

It is not doing things a step at a time. It is taking one step to the
right and then taking a step forward. Steping to the right first
doesn't move you forward at all.
