That is down to the gdb manpage, not every single -dbg package in the
entire archive IMHO. There are other sources of info too, like the Wiki.

Once the -dbg packages are installed:
$ gdb /usr/bin/convert

The rest is down to the gdb manpage, no?

gdb does all the work of locating /usr/lib/debug/usr/bin/convert, hence
all such files are mode 0644.

Jari, I don't see how any package other than gdb can provide the
information you seek. Yes the gdb manpage can appear scary but that
isn't the fault of any of the -dbg packages.

It's equivalent to asking every package contaning a PNG image to
document how to view a PNG image in eog or gimp.
