safe value for HOME

Hi all,

I'm a maintainer of mathematica-fonts which downloads fonts
with wget and I got the following bug report.
What is a safe value for HOME in this case?

> this packages calls wget without first setting HOME to a safe value. This
> means that when I do:

> I get the warning:
> wget: Cannot read /home/glisse/.netrc (Permission denied).

> (my HOME is on NFS)
