That means the maintainer loses his access to (possibly) overwriten
directories (although I don't have an idea how to store the multiple
tarballs in VCS, anyways; especially when upstream decides to split up a
tarball after a while...).

"--skip-debianization" would be perfect IMHO (speaking for svn-bp
development).
