This is wrong, <iostream.h> contained the standard streams in the early
90s.  Like it or not, there was C++ even before ISO C++.

Yes, this is true.  But by "valid", I meant "conforming to the
standard", as in "valid HTML".  Before ISO C++, there was no standard,
only a reference implementation.

Regardless, using the .h versions has not been correct for a decade.
