I would suggest that this bug should be closed, it certainly does not appear to be a "general" bug because only one package creates that directory and that package is creating it correctly AFAICT. $ umask 0022 # umask 0022 > My root user has default umask 0077. 0077 is not the default umask for a user or for root and I suspect that this is the cause of your problem.
