I am reassigning this bug to xserver-xorg for now.

Radeon 9250 AGP with PCI ids 1002:5960 is supposed to work.

Could you send us your Xorg.0.log after starting the new X session (the
one with DRI disabled) ? If possible, do this with a free (ati/radeon)
driver (not fglrx) on a Debian.
