d-i, unattended installation

Hi,

I try to perform an unattended network based installation with the
installer from the stable distribution. At the boot prompt I feed the
kernel with parameters like auto=true, priority=critical,
url=http://... or file=/... and locales=en. I've tried the long forms
like DEBCONF_PRIORITY oder debconf/priority, too. Soon after starting
the kernel the installer asks for the language to use. He do not even
try to get the preseed.cfg. network interfaces are down etc.

Is there a way to use the installer for this scenario? Do I need some
magic ;)? I've tried the installer from edge, which seems to work. But
it tries to load some modules which are not available in the stable
distribution.
