Thanks! I actually looked at it before I started writing my util,
and it looks like a great module for doing flexible things with
METARs. All I needed was a way to display decoded equivalents in a
user-friendly format, which NOAA already provides, and needed to
retrieve the forecast data anyway. It seemed logical to just use a
consistent interface to deal with both, but if I were trying to do
something significantly more complicated, I would of course
integrate pymetar (or a similar module if others exist).
