If that is required, yes.  But I suspect a friendly reenforcement of
the maintainer team is a better solution if one is able to get in
touch with the maintainer.

I have not tried, but notice he did a new upload a few months ago.
(Which surprised me and made me rephrase my suggestion, as I until I
checked belived the maintainer to be completely missing for a year or
two. :)

I focus more on the free flash implementations, and hope someone else
can take on the non-free flash issues. :)
