PPower4 is a post-processor for making PDF presentations with pdflatex.
This is usually a good idea when one's presentations actually happen to
have many formulae, since the TeX engine is at the disposal of the
person making the presentation.

Could you please compare ppower4 with latex-beamer? Since about one year
I'm a very big fan of LaTeX Beamer. Obtaining from the example presentations
on the web page Beamer is more powerful and feature complete than ppower4.
The latest news entry on the ppower4 web site is more than three years old
which leaves the impression that upstream is dead. Last but not least I
do not really understand at which point I need some Java based tool. LaTeX
beamer (and others like prosper) do only need pdflatex.

So nothing against your plan to package ppower but I think we should make
sure that we do not put in just another upstream dead software into Debian
that is less powerful than things we just have.

Kind regards

          Andreas.
