So I'm confused, because each mail seems to contain a plethora of
options, but when I picked through the last one and found what seemed
to be right, you say it's wrong.
So I just did two uploads already, based on the previous mail, which I
have apparently misunderstood. Please reject those (as I'm sure you
will anyway).

Well, my concern is that this will hose grisbi. The new library
contains new initialization functions and changes the interface for
doing callbacks. Maybe it hoses grisbi, and maybe it doesn't. I am
not in a position to detect hosage if it is happening. And, worse
yet, grisbi is written entirely in French and I can't even read the
documentation, and I don't even have access to OFX banking (ask my
credit union when they'll decide to start supporting it).
But since this is what you prefer I'll happily do this (as quoted
above), and file a RC bug against grisbi to have it recompiled against
the new library. It's easier for me to maintain anyway. If that hoses
grisbi in such a way that the grisbi maintainer can't deal with the
result, then we'll have to deal with the fallout then.
