Indeed. (I think I was going to write 'Unix' there first, but then
changed that to 'GNU' for some reason)
I works with all kind of tools, including graphical file managers,
though the documentation talks about performance problems in that case,
as they are stat-ing all files in a directory. There is an option to
force stating off, though.
