Debian should be split into "operating system" and "applications"
and you should be able to upgrade just the applications without
upgrading the base-os.
Now that sounds easy enough, but I've been trying to write a
description on how that would work and never quite succeeded ..
it's actually a hard problem.
But that's basically what you can do now with backports.org,
so it isn't impossible.
