Hmm, you may be right for the PDC202xx chipset and PATA interface. This
package provide drivers for the SATA interface of the PDC203xx chipset.

Refering to Jordan Rhody, PROMISE Inc. Jeff Garzik w/Red Hat is working
on an OSS implementation of the PROMISE chipses. You can search the
lkml.org for his name. Here an announcement that is very clear:

If you are using Win and Linux at the same RAID 0 system you need the
propritary Linux kernel driver. Until Jeff Garzik can't provide a
adequate replacement the binary only drivers from PROMISE Inc. are
mandatory.
