I haven't tried apt 0.6, but apt 0.5 does allow for these values to be 
used as pins:

pretzalz@Pretzalz:~$ grep -C2 Marillat /etc/apt/preferences

pretzalz@Pretzalz:~$ apt-cache policy mplayer-k7
