OK, near as I can tell there is no suitable X Server installed and
none available for installation. I *know* the xdebconfigurator
changed the X paths (to /etc/X11...) but I cannot prove it and I
cannot tell what it was before I started this project testing -- so
Ive uninstalled all xdm, gdm, xserver-common, etc, etc.

The plain old text console has servered me well -- Ill stick with it
for now. =)

In closing, maybe the xdebconfigurator could help with selecting other
related things - like a suitable xserver.

Over all a very promising program =)
