Nicola Pero from GNUstep already took initiative to do that. I did not follow
all the thread but basically this is where it starts:

Seeing that work is underway to solve the issue once and for all, I again
express my opinion to leave GNUstep stuff as-is for sarge and deal with the
upcoming upstream changes for etch.
