Is this FTBFS because the toolchains versions used by buildd are
different to the ones on my development machine?

Toolchain package versions used by buildd:

libc6-dev		2.3.2.ds1-13
linux-kernel-headers	2.5.999-test7-bk-15
gcc-3.3			1:3.3.4-3
g++-3.3			1:3.3.4-1
binutils		2.14.90.0.7-8
libstdc++5		1:3.3.4-1
libstdc++5-3.3-dev	1:3.3.4-1

Toolchain package versions on my machine:

libc6-dev		2.3.2.ds1-13
linux-kernel-headers	2.5.999-test7-bk-16
gcc-3.3			1:3.3.4-5
g++-3.3			1:3.3.4-5
binutils		2.14.90.0.7-8
libstdc++5		1:3.3.4-5
libstdc++5-3.3-dev	1:3.3.4-5
