The reason why libfasttrack-gift has never been placed into debian is because it doesn't even qualify non-free. Debian could be sued for this, and other reasons due to its reverse engineering.

I seem to recall that giFT-FastTrack used some binary hunks of code from
Kazaa or some such. Is this still true, or was the protocol completely
reverse engineered?

I also remember seeing some x86 assembly code. Is that still around?
