OK, 'Kloppe' is well known and people who invent strange words deserves it. ;-)

Same for me - I never heard this word before.

This is what I understanded after Mario's explanation.  I'd guess it
would describe these very old ones from one piece of wood with a slit.
Perhaps this word is thus unknown because these things are replaced
by the more modern two part things which are connected by a spring.
