user-friendly is a set of assistance scripts that are integrated into
Debian's packagement system and that help users to configure things that
are often forget and make Debian appear "not user-friendly". For
example:

 - auto-install of localisation packages for your country, eg. for OO,
   KDE, Mozilla
 - auto-build of additional kernel modules when needed
 - extended hardware detection (installing non-free-as-speech components
as needed) and installation of "best-used" software packages when new
hardware has been discovered plus message to the user
 - auto-configuration of autofs when new block devices discovered
 - give more permissions to local users
 - ...
