The logical consequence of this statement is that you couldn't link
C code under the GPL with any other language. So GCC, which includes
an Ada frontend written in Ada and assembly language for various
low-level operations (long long math on some architectures, etc.)
violates the GPL.
Ironically, your statement doesn't help us at all in the case that started
this thread; if you can't link code with libreadline and just distribute
the binary, you can't include code in the kernel and just distribute the
binary form of that code.
