I also welcome your proposal.  Glibc, which is one of sensitive
software depended on kernel version, can also reduce supported kernel
version.  Currently s390x (2.4.1), i686 (2.6.0), nptl (2.6.0), sparc64
(2.4.18) are minimally required as non-2.2 kernel version, but most
other architectures are capable for 2.2.0.  For me, it's hard to test
for glibc on kernel 2.2 nowadays.

If we decide to drop 2.2 kernel support, debian-glibc package can bump
up MIN_KERNEL_SUPPORTED from 2.2.0 to 2.4.1 or later.  Note that this
kind of work will be focused after releasing sarge.
