CSSC is a GNU clone of SCCS.

Are you sure you can't wait until some of the more powerful Version
Management projects are ready? PErsonally I also use CVS at work, but you
need to know about all of its (silly) limitations.

SF is not a version control system, just a bunch of scripts. CVS is not
particular well integrated. With ViewCVS you can have all you need.

I would not recommend to think about RCS at all. No need to use this as a
step in between.

Alternatives are arch, subversion and openscm
